Myrtle Grove is a census designated city that resides in Escambia County, Florida. If you like to get out and about in the early afternoon, you might find a few things to do, you know, like swimming, as Myrtle Grove is surrounded by water. People who live in the city often refer to themselves as Pensacolians since they are in very close proximity to West and South Pensacola. Funnily enough, there is no East Pensacola (the only thing east of the city is water -- or may be a hidden land that resides below the surface). If you just need to have an East Pensacola, you'll be happy to hear that there is a South East and North East Pensacola (go figure). This city is bordered by Blue Angel Parkway, Warrington, West Pensacola and Bellevue (no, not Bellevue the psych hospital, although there might be a connection that we don't know about). This city is mainly a beach community, but there is a pretty sizable downtown area with lots of businesses.

If you're looking to move to Myrtle Grove, there a few things you should know. One is that there are a ton of properties here for sale and for rent. Two, most of them are well within market price. Apartments in the area are plentiful, and they range from studio apartments to two- and three-bedroom duplexes for rent. There are always move-in specials going on, so it's best to get in the door around spring or summer when rental property is most available.

If you live in one of these neighborhoods, then the only way to get around is by driving, walking or biking.

Notable Neighbor(hoods)

Technically, Myrtle Grove doesn't have any neighborhoods located within it -- although some maps might tell you otherwise. There are a few notable neighborhoods near Myrtle Grove, which happen to be quite popular: Washington, Bellevue and West Pensacola.

Washington: Washington is located south of Myrtle Grove near the Pensacola Bay. Obviously, this city offers a way better view than Myrtle Grove, so why aren't you here? Residents in this area enjoy golfing at the Pensacola Country Club and a bit of shopping at the Navy Point Shopping Center.

West Pensacola: West Pensacola is loaded with freeways. If you're a car enthusiast, this might be your dream come true. A few major thruways in the area include the 90, 727 and the 295. While you're here, learn a little history at the Seminole Trail or Cherokee Trail, both are located near the Municipal Golf Course.

Bellevue: Lastly, to the north, we have Bellevue, a town named after the notorious psychiatric hospital in Manhattan, New York (or is that the other way around? We don't really know, but we aren't going to Bellevue to find out). What we do know is that Bellevue consists of the Blue Angel Parkway, Interstate 90 and the Saufley Field Airport, located by 28 West. Residents in this area enjoy fishing off West Shore Drive at Crescent Lake. The funny thing is that you always see mental asylum escapees fishing in movies; coincidence? We sure hope so.

Myrtle Grove: The City Where Everything is Really Close

Getting around Town

Getting around the city is really easy. Most people like to walk, after all it is a pretty walkable town; however, if you're one of those bicycle enthusiasts, you might find Myrtle Grove to be a little upsetting. There aren't any biking trails running through the city, but there is one single trail in South Pensacola and a pretty tiny area called the Belt Biking Trail. This trail is located in a park near Chelsea Street and 65th Avenue. Other than that, it's best to drive or catch a bus here.

If you hate walking and despise biking, then public transit might be the thing you're after. Lucky for you, there is a bus route that runs through the area, but there aren't many runs. The transit system that services the area is Escambia County Area Transit (ECAT). To be honest, there aren't many stops in the area either. To find these hidden bus stops, consult the Escambia County Area Transit website or a local Medium.

TMI or Just Enough

One thing you need to know about Myrtle Grove and its surrounding cities is that there are too many lakes and a large number of golf courses. If you're into golf, this would be your dream, if not, well maybe you could take up fishing? Now you may be thinking, with all of these golf courses, the area is overly preppy (or that you might spot Carlton Banks somewhere on the greens), but the truth is that this is a pretty mellow area. Most neighboring residents come here to max and relax. If you are into golf, then Perdido Bay Golf Course or Lost Key Golf Club should be on the top of your list.

Close Proximity to Airports

Myrtle Grove is sandwiched between two airports, Saufley Field North and Pensacola International Airport. Its close proximity to the airports is great if you have a lot of out-of-town relatives (or you want to get away from live-in relatives). Whatever the reason it is, the airports are there to whisk you away when you need!

Plenty of Shopping for Everyone and Their Mothers

Myrtle Grove has two notable shopping centers, Mariner Mall and Walmart. However, locals usually travel outside of the area to Cory Field Shopping Mart or Warrington Shopping Center.

Two parks that residents frequent often are Meadow Brook Park and Myrtle Grove Park. These parks have all of the amenities you would expect, such as grass, trees, air and walking trails, making for a great day out in the Florida sunshine.
