Located along I-210, also called the Foothill Freeway, it's home to over 10,800 people (per 2010 U.S. Census data) in neighborhoods on both sides of the freeway. It's all developed land and very much a part of the Los Angeles megalopolis. While there is little to distinguish Citrus from the areas around it, the community is a good place to live. Set virtually in the middle of the upper metro, it's about the same distance to Santa Monica and San Bernardino -- of course, travel time depends to a great deal on what time of day you are trying to get to either one of them! Notorious L.A. traffic aside, Citrus is convenient to Pasadena, Glendale, and Burbank as well. The Big Dalton Wash flows through town, but like most L.A. area waterways, it's a concrete-lined trickle most of the time and a torrent when it rains hard in the mountains.
There's a good chance people looking for an apartment rental in Citrus are searching for something in the general area versus something particular to the community. Of course, narrowing things down helps your search! Once you have winnowed things down to the area you want, make a list of the properties that most suit your needs - and match your budget, of course. Make sure your credit report is up to date and you have enough funds available to cover first and last month rent payments and any security deposit that may be required. Especially on more expensive homes like 3 bedroom houses for rent, that can add up to a good deal of money.
College: On the north side of the 210 Freeway is the campus of Citrus Community College, which, interestingly enough, is not in Citrus, but just beyond the northern boundary. Near the school on the south side you will find manufactured home parks, single family homes, and complexes where you might find furnished apartments that are available. Foothill Stadium Cinema 10 is here too, making it easy to catch the latest movie.
Oakdale: Centered on Oakdale Memorial Park is this area of homes, businesses, and the occasional apartment complex where you can begin your search. Another big green space nearby, that isn't a cemetery like Oakdale Memorial, is the Glen Oaks Golf Course.
Gladstone: Along the east-west artery that is Gladstone Street you will find a large strip mall and several apartment properties in the sections that are in Citrus. Gladstone Park is to the west. With easy access to the 210 Freeway, it's convenient living for commuters.
What can we say, it's your own little slice of the California Dream. Sure, it's not as big of a slice as those people living in Beverly Hills or Brentwood are getting, but it's a slice nonetheless.
You are within fairly easy driving distance of all the great diversions L.A. has to offer -- from professional sports to great restaurants and nightclubs to the famous beaches and theme parks. If you are bored around here, well -- it's not because of where you live. The weather is -- wait for it -- pretty much good all of the time, all year-round. Sure, there are seasons; but here that means it gets cooler at night and you might see a few raindrops as opposed to it's hotter than other days and the wind is dry.
