City Guide
Teays Valley
Moving to Town

Are you ready to find rental homes in Teays Valley, West Virginia? If so, you have plenty of housing choices, including a number of rental condos, apts for rent, single-family homes, or you can find a duplex for rent. When it comes to rental listings, the place is kind of in the ice ages, since many landlords simply post a sign in front of the house, so be prepared to drive around to spot the rental of your choice. Once you target your dream abode, get your credit report, pay stubs, and references together to impress that landlord.

Try to avoid moving in June, July, or August as those months see the highest temperatures and will making moving a harder task than it already is. On the same note, the cold in January and February won't be your friend either.

Neighborhoods

Teays Valley, West Virginia is part of the greater Huntington-Ashland, WV KY OH Metropolitan Statistical Area. The valley is split in half by two separate districts: Teays Valley and Scott Depot. Basically, what it boils down to is that you have two neighborhoods to choose from.

Hurricane / Teays: Suburban in density, this area has apartments, single-family homes, and duplexes mostly built between 1940 and 1999. While much of this community is owner-occupied, you can find rentals if you put your mind to the search.

Scott Depot: This large neighborhood stretches from Teays Lane in the West to the Kanawha River in the east. It is also the perfect location to find excellent apartments, townhouses, condos, trailers, and single-family homes occupied by a mix of owners and renters. Residents love the great amenities here. Don't miss the Kanawha River Recreation area. This gorgeous outdoor location is the best place in the county for bird watching and spotting a number of West Virginia's beautiful wildflowers. Long hikes, walks, and bike rides along the river area are a trademark of Teays Valley.

Life in Teays Valley

Teays Valley is a community with plenty of spirit. The Community Center offers youth sports including soccer and softball, arts and crafts programs, and senior activities. Looking for a stellar view? Check out Hurricane City Park where the bucolic Teays Valley streams are a sparkling sight to savor. Like to golf? Well, all you duffers will enjoy the !(https: / / mail.google.com / mail / u / 0 / images / cleardot.gif) Sleepy Hollow Golf Course and Club. The adjacent Putnam County Parks and Recreation Department Park is also home to an amusement park called Waves of Fun. Get ready to splash up some summer entertainment.

Conveniently located near I-64, residents of Teays Valley will need a car to get around, as public transportation options are somewhat limited. This is a small price to pay though for beautiful scenery and amenities such as barbecue restaurants and access to the fishing, boating, and wildlife along the lovely, broad Kanawha. Little Scary Creek isn't scary at all -- rather it's another lovely natural area to walk and watch the local wildlife.
