Allouez has a rich history. It was started by a French Jesuit priest named Father Claude-Jean Allouez, who came to the area as a missionary. His mission was to convert the Native Americans to Christianity, and he started an Episcopal Church and an Episcopal mission, the Cadle Mission. Today, none of that exists, but it did create the foundation for a strong community that is a suburban commuter town of Green Bay. Allouez is located on the Fox River, so it has beautiful scenery and access to the water. It also has easy and quick access to the big city nearby, making it the ideal place for someone who likes to work and play in a big urban area but live somewhere more remote and scenic.

The truth of the matter is, very few people who end up in Allouez meant to end up in Allouez. It's a commuter town, and most people work and play and Green Bay. There are things to do in town, though, like spend time in Green Isle Park, Parkway Riverview Park, Webster Park or Wiese Park. You can also stare at the water of the Fox River or the East River. If you like big city living and entertainment, spend time in nearby Green Bay. It's home to world-class dining and activities, and people here particularly love their Green Bay Packers, an NFL football team.
