One of the more interesting facts of its history is that the The town of Lancaster was named after Lancaster, Massachusetts. To this day, no one knows why. It boasts a population of 41,604 residents, and although it was once written off as a small town, it has evolved into quite the booming suburban community.

Town Line: This area gets its name because it is located near the intersection of Town Line Road and Broadway. If you end up moving here, there's a good chance you'll be spending a lot of time at the Town Line Pizzeria - the locals love it!

With so many villages, hamlets and smaller communities to choose from, it might be hard to decide which area to visit, but with a circumference of only 37.9 square mile, you can really see it all. Lancaster, NY is a haven of pretty parks, abundant streams, safe neighborhoods, and affordable real estate. What it lacks in excitement and culture, it more than makes up for in charity fundraisers and craft sales. With picturesque houses, and too-many-to count historical buildings to boast of, it is the epitome of small town living.

It also hosts some exciting community events, like the annual Fourth of July parade, and The Taste of Lancaster, which is a charity fundraiser with, what I imagine, consists of all of the local restaurants partaking. If culture is your thing, then you'll be pleased to know that one of the village of Lancaster's hottest attractions is their Lancaster Opera House. The historic 1897 opera house has been restored to its earlier elegance, and today hosts a wide array of shows from comedy to dinner theatre to musicals, such as Les Miserables. Saving the best for last, there is The Hull House, which is a Federal style house, and is currently under restoration. It is still open to the public, and has a bustling 2014 season of events coming up, consisting of a Mother's Day tea, plant sale and art sale, an annual pancake breakfast, and even a history camp for kids!
