Sparhawk Mill, an old cotton mill on Bridge Street, now houses an eclectic collection of shops. Yarmouth was always a popular locale, with human inhabitants tracing from 2000 B.C. Settlers arrived in 1636 to find a fort already built on the site. Construction of the first saw mill at Royal River was soon followed by steady population growth, including descendants of the Plymouth Pilgrims.
