Living in Ellsworth, ME

The city of Ellsworth has a long history. The area on which it now stands was originally inhabited by peoples of the Passamaquoddy and Penobscot tribes. It was later inhabited by early French settlers in the early 1600s. However, its modern history began in the mid-1700s, when it was inhabited by a party led by Benjamin Milliken and Benjamin Joy.

Although not a huge town by any means (it had a population of 7,741 at the 2010 census), Ellsworth appears to be growing fast, with a growth rate of nearly 20 percent between 2000 and 2010
