City GuideView Park-Windsor Hills
View Park-Windsor Hills has played host to a range of influential musicians over the years, but two really stand out -- the legendary Tina Turner and Ray Charles. Music really is in the town's blood.

That said, View Park-Windsor Hills isn't actually a town or a city at all. It's really a census-designated place, or CDP, in the city of Los Angeles. The two neighborhoods of View Park and Windsor Hills lie northwest of South Los Angeles, and Southwest of Downtown, with Santa Monica over on the western coast to the north and Inglewood directly to the south. The weather, as we all know, is pretty good in LA, and the entire city surrounding the CDP offers endless entertainment to anyone living in the area.

Moving to View Park-Windsor Hills

So, here's where it starts to get tricky. If you're thinking of moving to View Park-Windsor Hills then you need to be prepared to pay for it. This is a popular and expensive part of one of the most expensive cities and states in the US, so you're not going to get away with dirt cheap rent around here. The good news, however, is that both houses and apartments are readily available. Rental apartments and house rentals are easy enough to find, although at a heavy price, so expect to not only have to put up a big first month's rent, but also a sizeable security deposit in order to secure a new home. If you're looking for a house to rent in View Park-Windsor Hills, expect this to be even larger, with more bedrooms equaling the higher prices. On the plus side, vacancy rates aren't as bad as you might expect for a nice area of a big city like LA, so finding appropriate housing won't be impossible. Just make sure you start looking early to avoid disappointment.

Neighborhoods in View Park-Windsor Hills

The CDP has two neighborhoods to check out, so it's worth having a cruise around the area to see which appeals to you. Realistically, both are similar, offering the same benefits and drawbacks. Of the latter is the area's relatively poor WalkScore of 38, meaning you're going to need a car for most errands in either neighborhood.

View Park: View Park has little in the way of amenities, but it is a cozy area where you can get to know your neighbors at local activities.

Windsor Hills: Restaurants found here, down W Slauson Avenue, include Yee's Chinese Food, Orleans and York Deli, and Sachi Teriyaki House. A few more shops are to be found as well, and there are a couple of parks here: Norman O. Houston Park in the north, and Ladera Park in the south.

Living in View Park-Windsor Hills

View Park-Windsor Hills is one of dozens of CDP's in LA, but you'll find few areas of greater affluence and wealth. People here tend to travel Downtown or towards other areas of LA for work where they can earn a decent packet, and that obviously pushes up the average cost of housing in the area. Any rental property you find in this area is likely to set you back a bit. The CDP itself is very much a haven for housing, full of nice houses and apartments, with little more than a few token restaurants and shops to explore. But, with all of the great suburbs of LA on your doorstep, does this really matter? Probably not, and with easy travel links via road and rail to all areas of the wider city limits, you'll have the entire world at your fingertips, with a cozy, comfortable (if fairly expensive!) home right in the middle of it.
