City Guide for Signal Mountain, TN

Signal Mountain is home to Signal Point, a famous natural landmark that overlooks all of Chattanooga and the Tennessee River Gorge.

First of all, Signal Mountain isn't located on Signal Mountain; rather, it's located on Walden Ridge and named for Signal Point, a famous local landmark. The town itself is actually a suburb of Chattanooga, so locals can experience its small mountain town atmosphere while enjoying all the nearby amenities of the city. When most folks think of a small Southern town, they usually think of the fictional Mayberry, and with a population of only 7,554 (2010 census), Signal Mountain does have its Mayberry-like characteristics, but it's also a thriving community with a good amount of tourism and several nationally-known businesses (including industrial cement manufacturer Buzzi Unicem). Small Southern town? Perhaps, but definitely with a 21st century way of doing things. See more

What to keep in mind when looking for apartments with garages in Signal Mountain, TN

Signal Mountain apartments with garages are sometimes more expensive than other options. However, they may make more financial sense in the long run.

Weather, break-ins, and daily struggles to find a space can take a toll financially and physically. Remember that even cities in mild climates experience issues like salt air, tornadoes, hail, falling branches from storms, and other issues.

It’s also possible to score an auto insurance reduction if you park in a garage. Ask your insurance provider about any deals or discounts that could trim money off the cost of your monthly bill.

Before signing a lease, ask the landlord or property manager about any restrictions on garage use. It’s important to know if there are enough spaces for tenants and visitors and what happens if the garage is full. If you’re moving into an apartment inside a home, ask about any conditions on its use and if storage is allowed.
