City Guide for Oxford, OH

Welcome to Oxford! Obviously the most notable thing about this little Ohio city is Miami University, the large, nationally renowned public college located within city limits. While you get used to shouting, “Let’s go RedHawks!” let’s take a look at some apartments for rent and find you the home of your dreams!

Oxford is the definition of a college town. The population is about 20,000 and about 14,000 of which is comprised of Miami University students. The campus takes up a large portion the eastern region of town, and the shops, bars, and restaurants all generally cater to college students. If you’re somehow not moving to Oxford for college, you’re going to be outnumbered. Take heart, though! Because you live near a huge university, your town is much livelier and culturally rich than towns of similar sizes.

Just outside of Oxford, you’ll find great recreational activities, including hunting, hiking, and fishing at the large Hueston Woods State Park. If outdoor activity isn’t your thing and you need a break from all those RedHawks, Cincinnati is just a 50-minute drive from Oxford, and the large Northgate Mall is about 30 minutes south.

There are several apartment complexes that cater to students located throughout town. In the area directly west of campus, you’ll find complexes with all types of rentals that frequently offer great amenities, including gyms, pools and clubhouses. This neighborhood also has the occasional large rental home available. Two bedrooms directly across from campus generally range from $600 to $800.

Obviously, the farther you get from campus, the more suburban and eventually rural the neighborhoods will feel. Small communities surround the town of Oxford, and there are charming neighborhoods to the north and south of the city center that feel more family-oriented than the student-saturated urban area. You can find occasional rental homes in these regions of town. Two bedrooms here range from $650 to $850.

With the exception of a small pocket of town to the south of the city center, you should be able to find a great, safe rental in almost any Oxford neighborhood. Duplexes, apartment complexes, condominiums and townhomes abound in the areas just outside of Miami’s campus and the city center.

Because Oxford is a college town, landlords and management companies are very accommodating when it comes to special lease considerations. You’ll find a wide variety of apartments to suit your every need—including studio apartments, furnished apartments for rent, and short-term lease options.

If you’re relocating with a four-legged friend, allow yourself plenty of time to secure an apartment rental. In general, the Oxford rental market is not very pet friendly, usually because students with pets have a bad reputation with landlords. Once you locate a cat or dog friendly rental be prepared to shell out an additional pet deposit.

So welcome to Oxford! Enjoy all that this bustling college town has to offer! See more

What to keep in mind when looking for 3 bedroom apartments in Oxford, OH

Looking for 3 bedroom apartments in Oxford provides more space for multiple roommates sharing costs, or a family looking to settle in. Look for apartments that fit your lifestyle with proximity to green space, restaurants, entertainment, or quality schools.

Take your time when considering the layout during a tour of 3 bedroom apartments. Some bedrooms may be smaller than the others. This could work out well for roommates who want to adjust their share of the cost depending on who gets the largest and smallest bedroom. If you’re renting the entire space for yourself, make sure the rooms work well for the configuration you’re looking for, including a main bedroom, guest room, and office.

Consider the outdoor space when renting 3 bedroom apartments in Oxford. A larger apartment may come with both a balcony off the living room and Juliet doors in the main bedroom. A small yard out back, rooftop terrace, and other outdoor amenities may also be available.
