Located on the banks of the Coosa River, Southside, Alabama, is the picture of Southern hospitality. Southside is a city in Etowah County with a population of 8,412. It's 15 miles outside of downtown Gadsden and is one of the fastest growing cities in Northeast Alabama. Southside was first settled as a farming town in 1850 and has since grown into a sizable suburb. It's located between the foothills of the Appalachian Mountains and the Coosa River is ideal for people who love a bucolic country setting. Now is the time to move here, too - rents keep going up every year so the sooner you can get a place to rent here, the better!

Southside is pretty much one small community contained in a single neighborhood. It runs along the length of the river and has plenty to offer in the way of water sports and outdoor activities. There are some great restaurants in town, whether you want to indulge in Vietnamese food at Bowl of Pho or dine on American cuisine at Matthew's Restaurant. There's also the Capital Grille Steakhouse, if you're in the mood for a cut of meat! There isn't too much in the way of shopping, but you will find a small general store and places where you can pick up your weekly groceries. For other needs you can head to Gadsden, where you can find plenty of malls, clothing stores, home goods stores, and other things to satisfy all your shopping needs!
