Blytheville is a little steel-mill city on the Old Muddy with a quaintness all its own. Quiet, charming, cheap living with a small town atmosphere makes this city one of the finest places you can find in the Delta, so read on to learn all you need to know about the Blythevillian renter's life.
Blythevillians are a pretty diverse crowd. The city is home to the hardworking people of the steel mill industry, as well as the all-around geniuses of the aviation repair business. There are country boys, country club couples, fishermen, farmers, students, and plenty of fun, friendly people. It's a culturally rich place to live, and you just can't beat the low cost of living. Rentals can be found anywhere from $250 - $700 a month, allowing local renters to spend their paychecks on more interesting things than just a place to sleep, such as a boat or a nice pair of alligator boots. Two bedroom townhomes and apartments can be found for less than $400. There are some similarly-priced duplexes and rental homes as well, which are often very charming brick ranchers and old white-painted country-Delta houses. While amenity-packed apartment communities are a rare sight around these parts, you can at least find a decent place to live with all the basics - a washer/dryer, a full kitchen, and sometimes a nice fenced-in yard.
Those moving to town with pets will be happy to know that there are plenty of pet friendly apartment rentals in Blytheville. Dog friendly property rentals may take a little more legwork though, especially if it’s a 20-plus pound poochie. Those with big dogs will have the best chances of finding a dog friendly landlord by looking at rental homes rather than apartments. Pet fees aren't too bad around here either, usually costing about $150 per pet. Some places also charge a $20 per month pet rent.
Families moving to Blytheville who have seen the city's astronomically high crime index may be feeling a little worried. Well, rest assured that you can find a plenty of family-friendly neighborhoods within the city limits. Yes, there is some crime here, however the good and bad neighborhoods are easy enough to spot, and there are some streets where the local sense of community has had families sticking around for generations. The best way to learn about the safer, family-oriented neighborhoods is to meet everyone during the annual chili cook-off in October.
That's all the tips and tricks to Blytheville living you need these days. Now it's time to start your new life on the banks of the Mississippi River.
