Moving To Klahanie
Klahanie offers much to the relocating family or individual, as a variety of rental homes in the area are available regularly. More difficult to find are apartments a studio for rent, 1 bedroom apartment or 2 bedroom apartment for rent, as well as month to month leases. These types of properties are all in short supply compared to the number of residential properties available. People searching for these types of options shouldn't abandon all hope, however-these types of properties do exist! Prospective residents should be aware that most property-management companies are interested in longer lease terms, and folks searching for apartments should be willing to commit. In addition, local management groups and homeowners may be more willing to negotiate particular contracts. That being said, be sure to contact and follow-up with the particular landlords you are interested in, and ask to clarify. Many groups will advertise a 6 month or 1 year lease minimum. However, they may be willing to negotiate depending on the market, competition, or your winning smile.
Considerations
Since the location of Klahanie is an incredibly desirable locale for many residents and local Seattleites, be sure to do your research in regard to your requirements, budget, and timetable since properties here tend to move quickly. Klahanie has been considered a high-end neighborhood since its inception, and the residents of the community are active in protecting the Klahanie ideal. The level of community organization and interest is very high as well, as homeowners make an effort to connect with one another and share information that may affect each others' properties.
What to Bring
When viewing rental properties in Klahanie, bring the same materials you'd share with a landlord anywhere else: proof of income, a valid ID, and your checkbook. Because properties move so quickly here, it's best if you're prepared to write a check if you find an apartment you love. Having a list of references from previous landlords isn't a bad idea, either-when the competition is fierce, personal references can tip the odds in your favor.
Neighborhoods in Klahanie
Multiple neighborhoods make up the Klahanie region, including 23 divisions of single-family homes, and 9 subdivisions of either condos or duplex residences. Two districts include apartment complexes which total over 400 rental units between them. Klahanie has no true low-end areas, and locals enjoy incredibly low crime rates and safe streets. However, because of this, a higher level of demand is created, and home prices are comparably high in cost . If you're considering an apartment rental in the area, your location options may be limited, but your future home buying options for the same space are much more available.
Living In Klahanie
Life in Klahanie is about possibility, and life in the Pacific Northwest is about the great outdoors. Klahanie echoes this theme as its community parks, trails and sidewalks are well-maintained. The immediate scenery surrounding the schools and neighborhoods is the foothills of the mountains, the pine forests, and the Cascade Mountain Range rising up behind. Less than an hour-long drive away is the east side of the mountains and the dryer climate of Eastern Washington, as well as many notable Washington State landmarks and attractions, including Lake Chelan, Leavenworth and the Gorge, which features spectacular live performances in front of a deeply carved canyon where the river cuts down deep below. Seattle itself is one of the largest draws for citizens who want to settle themselves in areas like Klahanie, greater Issaquah and Sammamish.
As a sprawling metropolis of nearly 650,000 just in the limits, Seattle has topped the charts of the nation's fastest growing cities, and as a result local and regional traffic and population congestion have forced suburb expansions. While Klahanie is now an established and very desirable location to live, it has certainly been grown into by its neighbors, eventually leading up to a voted annexation.
Many of these pressing issues are what the community watch group focuses on, ensuring the resident interests from this CDP (census-designated place) are heard amidst the rapid growth and changes that are taking place regionally. The Citizens Caring for Klahanie group is an important cornerstone for many residents, as this unincorporated CDP originally was a self-recognized and member-governed entity. Even after their annexation by the City of Issaquah, they have remained a voice of the people. They state, "Our grassroots panel initially formed as the Concerned Citizens of Klahanie around the topic of King County's Klahanie Park. The county was looking to divest itself of the 64-acre 'crown jewel' of Klahanie, and we wanted to make sure it was done so in a way that would maintain the Klahanie living experience and insure the community's long-term political future."
Though Klahanie doesn't have an abundance of restaurants, eager eaters should note that the surrounding cities offer plentiful dining options. Max's World Cafe in nearby Issaquah offers a delectable sampling of Portuguese and Indian cuisine, and Ristorante Simone in Sammamish is the place to sate your craving for al dente pasta and a crisp white wine.
If you're seeking a close-knit community with abundant natural resources, look no farther than Klahanie!
