Pepper Pike was settled by sixteen pioneers in 1763. The town was originally dubbed the Orange Township, which also included Orange Village, Woodmere, Moreland Hills, Hunting Valley, and the Pepper Pike area. Pepper Pike is considered to be an affluent suburb of Cleveland, Ohio. The town is conveniently located just twelve miles east from the downtown Cleveland area, making it easy for residents of the area to access the rich array of Cleveland cultural activities and amenities. The town is bounded by SOM Center Road to the east and I-271 to the west. The northern boundary is established at Cedar Road while the southern boundary is delineated by Chagrin Boulevard. Pepper Pike was eventually named after the popular Pepper clan and was incorporated as a city in 1970. Current population estimates gleaned from the US Census indicate that the city is inhabited by 6,000 souls in an area only slightly larger than 7 square miles. Sound like heaven to you? It sure does.

Alperin Jewelers, Dodd Camera, and Kredo Hardware are all located in this side of the town. Europa Restaurant and Peppermint Thai are popular restaurants located in the Shaker Blvd. area. Arnold Trust and Keyes Treuhaft are the two major real estate businesses in the area.
City Center: City Center is situated to the left of Shaker Blvd. The Country Club is located in this neighborhood. This area is more business centered, but there are residential areas that intermingle with area businesses and other establishments. Luxury apartments and condos are situated near area real estate offices and banks. Several law offices are located in the area. There is also a Waterway Gas and Wash. Several financial institutions and insurance agencies are situated in this area. This includes Chase Bank, Berkman, Jorgensen, Masters & Stafman, State Farm, and James Kleinman Insurance.

Pepper Pike has successfully melded a traditional past with a more progressive present. Large areas of land remain untouched, but the developed areas have all the modern conveniences you could want, like CVS and more recently, Walmart. Don't worry about any waste lying around, though, because the area remains pristine due to the popular recycling program. Participation is encouraged at nearly every local venue from the corner convenience store aptly dubbed "The Corner Store" to the well-established Pepper Pike Club. Because of this, local participation in this effort is extremely high and Pepper Pike is considered to be one of the "greenest" towns in Cuyahoga County.
Pepper Pike residents obviously have a keen eye on a sustainable future. Everyone benefits from a sophisticated emergency communications system available to every resident for conveying alerts and important updates during serious emergencies. So don't worry, you'll have ample warning to lay low! There is also an annual health fair sponsored by several local hospitals.
