The city of Brecksville, Ohio is unique to northern Ohio and the Cuyahoga County area. Brecksville is comprised of roughly one-third park system lands, making it a nature lover's dream. Both the Cuyahoga Valley National Park and the Brecksville Reservation of the Cleveland Metroparks occupy large portions of the city, with the Brecksville Reservation covering 2,500 acres of city land. The Cuyahoga Valley National Park is one of the top ten most visited national parks in the country annually.
Moving to Brecksville
If you are looking for apartments to rent in Brecksville, then you'll want to start your search a few months ahead of time. Brecksville is a city with above average demand and also few options when it comes to traditional apartment buildings or complexes.
The city is home to several large apartment complexes though, and Grand Bay of Brecksville is one of note. Grand Bay of Brecksville offers both 3 bedroom apartments and smaller but still spacious 2 bedroom apartments, situated on over 100 acres to provide residents privacy that most other apartments can not. With private entrances, stunning landscaping and other luxury amenities, Grand Bay of Brecksville seems more like a condominium complex than apartments.
While typical single family rental dwellings are not plentiful in Brecksville, you may fare better by looking for a condo or duplex for rent; you can find both condos and duplexes scattered around the city and not centralized to one specific area. However, if you desire a house to rent, then you should definitely be able to find just the thing you are looking for. Be aware that you will pay a premium for a home in Brecksville. Homes of all different types and sizes are available in the city. With the exception of a few subdivisions, most of the homes are unique in design and features. Whether you are hunting for a single story ranch- style home or something a bit larger, the city of Brecksville has a good variety of just about everything.
Neighborhoods
The western part of Brecksville has several exit and entrance ramps to Interstate 77 and Route 21 provides an alternate route to the east. Nature lovers will enjoy the fact that Brecksville, especially the southern part of town, is built in and around the surrounding hills and valleys, giving most residents a beautiful view right out of their windows. If that's not enough for some, then the Brecksville Reservation of the Cleveland Metroparks is located within the city limits and provides nature trails, creeks, biking and hiking.
Living in Brecksville
Brecksville has many things going for it, with one of the most important being location. The city falls roughly halfway between both the city of Cleveland and the city of Akron, with many other larger suburbs just a short drive in any direction. In fact, you can be in downtown Cleveland within 15 minutes from Brecksville, making for a short commute to work.
While the city of Brecksville itself has its fair share of options when it comes to shopping, restaurants, and banking, being in such close proximity to two metropolitan areas leaves little to be desired in terms of shopping, entertainment and culture.
The Cuyahoga Valley National Park is another great place to enjoy the great outdoors and take in the scenic views, go for a hike or walk, or ride your bike while taking in the beautiful scenery of the park. Wildlife in the park includes nesting bald eagles and blue herons, and thousands of deer and other wild animals. Those that enjoy water sports, fishing, swimming and boating will also love having Lake Erie just a short drive away.
Sports fans will find plenty of reasons to cheer living in Brecksville. Head to Cleveland, and take in pro sports games of the Cleveland Indians of the MLB, Cleveland Browns of the NFL, Cleveland Cavaliers of the NBA and Lake Erie Monsters of the AHL. College basketball fans may want to take in a Cleveland State Vikings game to get their NCAA fix. In Akron, sports fans will find themselves with plenty of college sporting events, from men's Akron Zips basketball, Akron Zips women's basketball, Akron Zips football, or Akron Aeros minor league baseball games.
Getting Around Town
Brecksville has plenty of options when it comes to getting around the area, whether it be commuting, taking a short trip, or travel abroad. For those that don't feel the need for public transportation, there are several major roadways that provide access to the surrounding areas and farther out. Interstate 77 is the main roadway to Cleveland and Akron, I-80 better known as The Ohio Turnpike provides routes to Pennsylvania and Toledo, while State Routes 21 and 82 are major arteries to surrounding communities in the area. Public transportation is definitely not lacking in the city, the Regional Transit Authority (RTA) provides routes to Cleveland and other surrounding areas; the Akron Metro bus system also provides service to and from Brecksville and the surrounding areas. In fact, the Akron Metro and RTA services meet in the city of Brecksville, just off Brecksville Road, at the now closed Veteran's Administration Medical Center. For traveling further, you have two main options: Cleveland Hopkins Airport on the west side of Cleveland, and Akron-Canton Airport to the south of Akron, either one is less than a 30 minute drive from Brecksville.
