Radcliff is a small town in northwest Kentucky with an economy based mainly on a nearby Air Force base by the name of Fort Knox -- you may have heard of it -- in nearby Elizabethtown.
Back in the good old year of 1956, Radcliff became incorporated in the state of Kentucky. However, the town had its first beginnings in 1919 when a housing development was created near the Air Force base. More and more people arrived as Fort Knox grew to be a powerful and important asset to the United States of America. During the Second World War, thousands of soldiers came in and out of town to train at Fort Knox and prepare for battle. Pretty hardcore, huh? Soon enough Radcliff had its own fire station, post office, family stores, and water district. Today the Hardin Water District Number One -- located in Radcliff, of course -- is one of the primary water providers in this part of the state. Talk about responsibility!

Living in Radcliff
Radcliff is a great place to live if you want to enjoy the small town feeling with enough amenities to feel like you live in a small city. There are many popular places for recreation, community parks, a civic center, fantastic community activities, and a lot of military pride. There are many events with a patriotic theme around holidays such as the 4th of July or Memorial Day. If you are not a fan of the United States military, it might not be the ideal town for you. However, if you are in the military or have been in the military in the past, discovering a community of people who have walked similar life paths might be fun. Like green space? There's plenty of parks, and many tree-shaded streets. Enjoy a solid downtown area with shops and dining options? Radcliff can offer that, too.
Radcliff is a friendly town with a big heart and some hardworking tough customers as citizens. Many of its 21,688 residents are affiliated in some way with the Fort Knox Air Force base, which is ironically not actually located within the confines of Radcliff, but in a neighboring town a short drive away. Its official population includes nearby Elizabethtown as they are both part of the same county. The amount of folks who live here can change a lot depending on how many are off serving their country at any given time. Yep, that is how many Radcliffians are part of the United States Air Force. Enough to change the census a lot. In recent years, however, the U.S. Army created a new Human Resources Command post in Fort Know and a higher, more stable population came with it.
Radcliff is not super-huge as far as surface area goes. It is only about eleven miles long. However, the unincorporated city of Rogersville is also considered to be a desirable part of town. A wide, diverse range of citizens makes Radcliff their home. You can be one of those people, too!
