City Guide for Radcliff, KY

Radcliff is a small town in northwest Kentucky with an economy based mainly on a nearby Air Force base by the name of Fort Knox -- you may have heard of it -- in nearby Elizabethtown.

Back in the good old year of 1956, Radcliff became incorporated in the state of Kentucky. However, the town had its first beginnings in 1919 when a housing development was created near the Air Force base. More and more people arrived as Fort Knox grew to be a powerful and important asset to the United States of America. During the Second World War, thousands of soldiers came in and out of town to train at Fort Knox and prepare for battle. Pretty hardcore, huh? Soon enough Radcliff had its own fire station, post office, family stores, and water district. Today the Hardin Water District Number One -- located in Radcliff, of course -- is one of the primary water providers in this part of the state. Talk about responsibility! See more

What to keep in mind when looking for dog friendly apartments in Radcliff, KY

Finding an apartment in Radcliff that accepts your pet may not be easy, but it’s very possible. Keep in mind, most of the time you’ll have to pay a premium for bringing your dog along in your new apartment. Some apartments require you to pay monthly pet rent, others will ask for a non-refundable pet fee or a refundable pet deposit.

While landlords and property management companies have varying pet policies, most of them limit the number of dogs you can bring to your apartment and include breed and weight restrictions.

If your pet falls under some of the restrictions outlined in the pet policy, it’s still worth asking the landlord if they can make an exception for your dog. Preparing a pet resume ahead of time could help you build the case for your furry friend. Make sure to include information on behavioral training your dog went through over the years and proof of vaccinations. If you can, include references from your former landlord and/or neighbors.
