Winooski, Vermont is a city in Chittenden County, Vermont with a population of 7,267. It's basically a suburb of Burlington, so a lot of folks use it as a bedroom community and commute up to Burlington for work. It's a popular place for folks who like to ski, hike, bike and do other outdoorsy activities, so if you've never strapped on a pair of skis, now might be the time to learn! You'll get to enjoy a high quality of life in this tiny town that takes up only about 1.5 square miles on the map. The word Winooski comes from the Abenaki tribe and actually means "this is where the wild onions grow." Come and see for yourself!
Moving to Winooski
If you're thinking about finding an apt for rent in Winooski, the best advice we can give you is to look in the summertime. Vermont is as far north as it gets in the states, and the winters here, although beautiful, are supremely cold and very snowy. While this makes for great skiing, it's not ideal for trekking around when you're trying to rent an apartment! Better to forgo this and head here in the summertime when it's balmy and beautiful and the sun is shining most of the time. You'll also want to decide what kind of place you're going to live in -- do you want a single-family home or a smaller apartment in one of the apartment complexes? There are also plenty of townhouses for rent and some are closer to I-89, which will be compelling for commuters.
In order to move here, you'll want to get all your paperwork in order beforehand to save you as much time as possible. Moving is fun, but it can be stressful if you're not properly organized! Pull together a binder with all the normal docs, like a credit report, copy of your ID, bank statements, pay stubs, letter of employment, references, etc. so that your landlord can start the application process right away once you settle on a place. The sooner you get approved, the sooner you can move in!

Northern Winooski: This part of town is the most rural and is tucked back into the hills and mountainous region. You are sure to be rewarded if you bring your search for apartments to North Street.
