Two of the most frequently visited museums are the Violet Bank Museum in nearby Colonial Heights and the Siege Museum in neighboring Petersburg, VA. The Violet Bank Museum features Civil War History along with a giant cucumber tree, one of the nation's oldest trees. At the Siege Museum, visitors view and experience vivid presentations of the largest siege against a city during the Civil War, lasting for ten months. There are excellent exhibits depicting the lives of area residents throughout the siege and afterward.
The most noteworthy annual festivals in the Ettrick area are the Fort Clifton Festival in Colonial Heights, a historical display, and the Craftsmen's Spring Classic Art and Craft Festival in nearby Richmond.

Although you will probably want to drive your own car for local transportation around Ettrick and the nearby communities, many people enjoy biking and walking to and from work and around the region.
