Milltown is famed for the mid-1950s groundbreaking sedative and anxiolytic drug named Miltown, which was named after the borough.
The borough of Milltown is located in Middlesex County, New Jersey. Situated only 39 miles to the southwest of NYC, there's a definitive demand for rented accommodation from those who seek out the quieter side of life. And though there's not too much of a buzzing nightlife going down in the little borough, there's plenty enough restaurants to cater to everyone's tastes, and more besides.
Moving to Milltown
Milltown represents a quiet little haven, along with its 1.1 square miles of land mass. It's all about rural living, and nothing much else, other than in the midst of downtown. You don't come to Milltown for the titillation to be gained from the nightlife. You come instead to kick back and get away from it all.
How Long Will it Take?
It's prudent to allow yourself around three weeks to find what it is that you are looking for in terms of rented accommodation. There's plenty of availability in Milltown, but at the same time, properties tend to be snapped up pretty quickly. Best not to delay once you do find the place of your dreams or chances are it will evaporate into the Milltown air in a mere instant.
Neighborhoods in Milltown
With its location being a mere 39 miles from the heart of The Big Apple, Milltown serves as a very attractive proposition for those who wish to commute to work. As such, demand for home rentals in the area is high. Understandably so, given that Milltown is a rural little town and thus makes for a particularly attractive proposition for those seeking a tranquil lifestyle within the heart of a distinctly hectic part of the country.
Townsend St: With eight schools located within a mile of Townsend St, including five elementary and three middle schools, in addition to a couple of restaurants within easy walking distance, Townsend St grants an attractive spot for a house rental in Milltown.
Henry St: Offering two grocery stores, including Acme-Sav-On and Acme Markets on Ryders Lane, in addition to five restaurants all in close proximity, Henry St is a prime location in Milltown for a one bedroom apartment, as well as furnished apartments.
South Main St: Conveniently located close to Interstate 95 and with eight schools situated within a mile, South Main St is an ideal place for home rentals in Milltown.
Living in Milltown
Along its eastern border, Milltown is served by Country Route 617, otherwise referred to in the area as Ryders Lane. The New Jersey Turnpike also passes through the borough, although the closest interchange is located in the neighboring East Brunswick Township. New Jersey Transit offer a week-day local bus service on route 811, and Coach USA Suburban Transit has a NYC rush-hour commuter service linking Milltown, which travels on route 400.
There's little to do in Milltown. After all, given that the borough merely consists of just over a single square mile, that's hardly surprising. Nevertheless, should it be restaurants you want, Milltown will certainly satisfy the food junkies in town. If you enjoy steak or seafood, or indeed, if you enjoy steak and seafood, check out Fresco Steak & Seafood Restaurant on Ryders Lane, where you will be treated to the most succulent steaks and the tastiest seafood you might ever imagine possible. Lox, Stock & Deli Restaurant, also on Ryders Lane, offers a whole range of freshly cut meats and vegetarian options, which is plenty enough to put a smile back on your face after a hard day at work. Dusal's Italian Restaurant & Pizzeria, located on the much-favored Ryders Lane will even go so far as to cook up grub that's not on their menu, should the menu not satisfy any of their clientele. Otherwise, it's Italiano all the way! Buon appetito!
