Countryside, just like the way it sounds, isn't a city or a town, but rather a census-designated place in Loudoun County, Virginia. It's a young community, whose houses sprang up after 1981 when 1,000 acres of farmland was designated as new housing projects. Roughly 10,000 people happily call Countryside their home.
Moving to Countryside
What should you know before finding a place to live and moving into the charming community of Countryside? It's rural. Really, really rural. And that's good! But it means that you're going to be spending a lot of time in one tiny area, with hiking trails, nature walks, community swimming pools and biking as your main entertainment. Is that cool with you? Great! Also, if you don't already own a car, or better yet, a pickup truck, buy one. You're going to need it.
Although most of the homes and buildings in Countryside were designed and built in the 1980s, you wouldn't know it to look at them. The architecture heavily features colonial-style homes that are pretty high up there on the home value scale. It's not cheap to rent or to own in Countryside, but if you've got the budget, you'll definitely be impressed with what's on offer. Looking for a home for rent? The majority of rentals here are big houses, featuring 3, 4 or 5 bedrooms and 3, 4 or 5 bathrooms. There are a few stately brick townhouses for rent, as well as nice-looking duplexes for rent, if that's more your style. Hoping for an apartment for rent? Well, this isn't really the place, but you might find a little something like a basement or upper level house suite if you're thorough with your home search.
Countryside's Neighborhoods
Since this community is so small, there are no official neighborhoods. Officially, Countryside is considered a neighborhood of its own, attached to the town of Sterling, VA. Located mostly to the north of Harry Byrd Highway and Sterling, Countryside is bordered to the north by the Potomac River and the Maryland / Virginia border.
Other Cool Stuff in Countryside
The Trump National Golf Club is at the northeast corner of town, and the immense Seneca Park, attached to the Potomac River, is just a little north of that. It's not called Countryside for nothing! If you love green spaces, wild animals in their natural habitats, or a couple rounds of golf on a pristine summer's day, followed up by drinks and dinner in the club house, come on down!
The Cascades Marketplace Shopping Center can also keep you entertained once in a while (or daily, it's really up to you.) Also, check out Vocelli's Pizza - it's a local favorite.
