Timberlake, VA is a small suburban town, and most people in the area actually live there to commute into Lynchburg. Timberlake's name makes literal, logical sense. The town is home to a lake, called Timber Lake, and it's a lovely, blue outdoorsy type place, where people who like to spend time outside and enjoy beautiful, temperate weather year round will feel right at home.

Just outside of Timberlake proper is one of the most gorgeous and historic natural areas of the U.S. This area is Thomas Jefferson's Poplar Forest, the original Thomas Jefferson's plantation, where the former U.S. President used to go for seclusion and peace. The home is a National Landmark and a candidate to be a World Heritage Site. The Poplar Forest is a great place to enjoy the beauty of the Virginia countryside, or to learn about some very important American history.While Timberlake has its fair share of lovely amenities, many people like to escape into Lynchburg to have a good time. And it makes sense, since this Southern city is really a world-class place!
