City Guide for Danville, VA

Welcome to Danville, Virginia, a historic town located in the central portion near the North Carolina border. Now, let’s start looking at apartments for rent so you can settle in to your new home as soon as possible.

Though you won’t find many people moving to Danville, the city does have plenty to offer in terms of history and outdoor activities. Several Danville neighborhoods, including Millionaire’s Row, boast beautiful and meticulously preserved architecture, most of which are a standing testament to the city’s past as the seat of tobacco money and the last capital of the Confederacy. Danville is also home to the Danville Braves baseball team and has pleasant, mild weather to play in all year-round.

Many residents will complain that Danville is a city dedicated to its past, sometimes at the expense of its future. Beautiful Victorian architecture and historical preservation has dominated much of the city’s revitalization plans, while not much has been pumped into industry, shopping or new developments. This has left a lot to be desired in the rental market, but brings a good number of vacancies for you to choose from.

The most sought after urban portion of Danville can be found around the West Main Street area, close to Averett University. There are many apartments for rent in both student efficiencies and shares, as well as rental homes. Two bedrooms here usually range from $500-$700 a month.

In general, you’ll want to avoid the area around North Main Street near the city center. Rentals here are typically not very well maintained, either, but there are likely some gems in the rough, so long as you do a good bit of looking.

You’ll find most of Danville’s development just north of the river, including the Piedmont Mall and Coleman Marketplace where you’ll likely do a lot of your shopping and dining. There has been some development in the way of apartment complexes and condominiums around here, and some of these buildings feature amenities such gyms and swimming pools. Two bedrooms in this area generally range from $600-$800 a month.

South of the city center, close to the North Carolina border, Danville has a more suburban and rural feel to it. While there are some apartments here, many of the rentals are in rental homes or trailers. Prices are pretty similar to the rest of the city with two bedrooms costing somewhere between $500 and$700.

The student population means that short-term leases are fairly easy to come by, particularly in rentals close to campus. Danville is also a pet-friendly city, and many apartment complexes allow both dogs and cats without too much of a fuss.

So, welcome to Danville, dear renter! Enjoy the baseball, the history and great weather! See more

What to keep in mind when looking for 3 bedroom apartments in Danville, VA

Looking for 3 bedroom apartments in Danville provides more space for multiple roommates sharing costs, or a family looking to settle in. Look for apartments that fit your lifestyle with proximity to green space, restaurants, entertainment, or quality schools.

Take your time when considering the layout during a tour of 3 bedroom apartments. Some bedrooms may be smaller than the others. This could work out well for roommates who want to adjust their share of the cost depending on who gets the largest and smallest bedroom. If you’re renting the entire space for yourself, make sure the rooms work well for the configuration you’re looking for, including a main bedroom, guest room, and office.

Consider the outdoor space when renting 3 bedroom apartments in Danville. A larger apartment may come with both a balcony off the living room and Juliet doors in the main bedroom. A small yard out back, rooftop terrace, and other outdoor amenities may also be available.
