Originally, Seagoville was called Seago. But apparently there was another town in Texas named Seago, so the U.S. Postal Service changed the name.

Seagoville is a suburb of the Dallas metropolitan area, home to just fewer than 15,000. Seagoville sits on U.S. Highway 175, about half an hour from downtown Dallas. Most of Seagoville is in Dallas County, though a tiny portion juts into neighboring Kaufman County. With parks, shopping and entertainment readily available in Seagoville, it's hard to say no to moving here.

Neighborhoods

Seagoville is divided into two main sections, separated by U.S. Route 175.

City Center: To the south is the quieter City Center, which contains many single-family homes built between 1970 and 1999.

Lawson: To the north is Lawson, where rental prices are slightly higher on average. The Lawson area includes Lawson Lake, East Fork Trinity River, and many single-family, three- to four-bedroom homes.

Living in Seagoville

Seagoville is just 10 minutes from downtown Mesquite, a larger community where more jobs, shopping, dining and other opportunities are available.

Seagoville has a lot of community pride, and offers some fun events for residents to participate in. The largest park in the area is Bruce Central Park, which features the annual celebration of SeagoFest and Patriotic Festival. SeagoFest includes a carnival, music shows, car show, arts and crafts and food.

Seagoville's weather resembles that of the Gulf Coast more than the desert lands of west Texas. July high temperatures hover near a hot and sticky 100 degrees, while January lows generally stay above freezing. The area gets a generous amount of rain, almost 40 inches per year, yet very little snow. The average year brings just one and a half inches of snow to Seagoville. Sunny days far outnumber cloudy ones, as Seagoville gets 230 days of sunshine each year compared to only 71 rainy ones. Most of the places to rent in Seagoville are well equipped with air conditioners to cool you off in the blazing summer heat.
