We all know from hard life experience that paying rent is one of the most soul-crushing things about being an adult. No matter where you live, it will always be a bummer; but some locations are better at curbing the pain than others. Knowing this, we combed the Apartment List website across 12 U.S. cities to find apartments you can rent with a $1,500 budget. Where do renters get the most bang for their buck?
1. Denver – Tons of amenities to go with this brand new apartment
1-bedroom, 719 sq ft, $1,490 (Capitol Hill, Via Apartments)
One of our favorites, the Mile-High City! Here you can get a gorgeous, brand new 1-bedroom near Capitol Hill, with tons of perks… cocktail pool and spa with cabanas, bike storage and repair center, and spin and yoga room with On Demand Instructional Classes, to name a few.
2. Dallas – Granite-inspired countertops and stainless steel appliances
2-bedroom, 1,139 sq ft, $1,464 (Deep Ellum/Baylor College, Marquis on Gaston)
Located right outside of Deep Ellum and very close to Baylor College, you can get a 2-bedroom, 2-bathroom apartment at the Marquis on Gaston. There are washer and dryer hookups so you can have your laundry going in-unit (living in the lap of luxury, amiright?) as you pop out for a swim in one of the property’s two pools!
3. San Francisco – A pleasant surprise in a great location!
Studio, $1,795 (near Nob Hill)
Unsurprisingly, pickings were pretty slim for $1,500 in San Francisco, so we bumped the budget up a bit. What can $1,795 get you in The Golden Gate City? A space so small they won’t even tell you the square footage in the listing, but with surprisingly nice appliances, and in a great location near prime neighborhood Nob Hill! And the apartment is pet-friendly, so you can always have a companion to experience it all with you! Living in San Francisco costs a pretty penny, but if you’re looking for fun and excitement, it’s well worth the price.
4. Atlanta – A rooftop pool accompanies this 2-bedroom in popular O4W
2-bedroom, 1,224 sq ft, $1,480 (Old Fourth Ward, Century Skyline)
In Atlanta, you can get a 2-bedroom, 2-bathroom in the popular Old Fourth Ward area of the city. This property sits right below Midtown, giving it a prime location with tons of access to restaurants, shopping, and nightlife. At home you’ll have a rooftop pool, yoga and pilates studio, 2 fitness centers, and more!
5. DC – A teensy home, but with a rooftop deck that offers great views!
Studio, 456 sq ft, $1,505 (Dupont Circle, Logan Circle, and Golden Triangle, 1500 Mass)
This studio sits in a sweet spot between Dupont Circle, Logan Circle, and Golden Triangle. It’s great for someone who always wants to be out and about. However, it’s been recently remodeled and has an adorable kitchen. The property’s rooftop deck is great for views and a breath of air.
6. Houston – Incredible elegance plus perks you didn’t know you need!
1-bedroom, 839 sq ft, $1,499 (near Memorial Park, Viridian Design District)
This 1-bedroom apartment a 20-minute drive from downtown is très chic! 12 ft. ceiling, bocce court, onsite movie theatre, resort style pool, screening room with a 147” projection screen TV, dog park and pet run, and tons more. Definitely paying for the perks here.
7. Seattle – Beautiful brick exterior and elegant interior for this 1-bedroom
1-bedroom, 457 sq ft, $1,450 (Pike Place Market, Oxford Apartments)
This 1-bedroom is also in a great location, close to Pike Place Market. There’s lots to do and lots of tourists to see–no loneliness here! And the apartment itself is in a charming red brick building, with an 11 ft. ceiling! Perks include onsite laundry and walk-in closets.
8. Minneapolis – Resort style living, right next to the Mississippi River
1-bedroom, 750 sq ft, $1,480 (Downtown, Mill District City Apartments)
A brand new, 1-bedroom apartment that literally has it all, in the heart of the city. Indoor/outdoor pool, 2-sided movie theatre, hot tub and sauna, onsite restaurant, sunken rock gardens, and cabanas…this is pretty much a tiny resort.
9. Indianapolis – A putting green and rooftop infinity pool for stress relief
2-bedroom, 880 sq ft, $1,505 (Downtown, Mentor & Muse at Artistry)
A gorgeous property in downtown Indianapolis with a community garden, and it’s pet-friendly! This 2-bedroom may not be a grand castle, but the building itself has a rooftop infinity pool, an art gallery, and its own putting green, so…
10. Los Angeles – A bright and modern space close to Koreatown
This apartment is quite small, but totally mighty in its interior. It has a stunning kitchen, noise-dampening windows, laundry onsite, and the owner pays water and trash! It’s no Beverly Hills mansion, but who cares when it’s such a steal!
11. Miami – Double kitchen sink and a 20-minute drive from downtown
1-bedroom, $1,500 (North Miami)
A standard apartment home, constructed in 2013. Living near Whole Foods and the ocean is always a plus, right? Gym and carport are included.
12. New York – Brick fireplace and gorgeous detailing in a tiny space
Studio, $1,450 (Crown Heights, Brooklyn)
This studio has parquet floors and original wood detailing; all the grandeur just might make you forget that you’re living in a matchbox. The kitchen is less-than-ideal, buuuuut look at that gorgeous brick fireplace! (Nonworking, of course. This is New York.) This mini-manor is located on a beautiful block in Crown Heights, so you can stroll elegantly down the street whilst secretly envying the larger homes around you.
