Dating back to the early 18th century, the Borough of Sharon Hill got its name from a local estate named "Sharon." A Quaker, Halliday Jackson, owned the property, and his ancestors came to America in the early 1700's from Ireland.
Sharon Hill, Pennsylvania is located just south from the heart of Philadelphia, the City of Brotherly Love. As such, even though Sharon Hill has a quiet, suburban village character to its neighborhoods, you will have access to all the best professional sports, entertainment, dining, shopping and excitement a big city has to offer. With an estimated population of 5,697, Sharon Hill is tiny compared to the nearby cities of Philadelphia, New York City and Washington D.C. The region is central to American history, so if scouting out sites from the Revolutionary War or Civil War lights your fire, then this community will delight you. The area has Independence Hall, the Philadelphia Museum of Art, the Franklin Institute and the Liberty Bell.
