City Guide for Croydon, PA

Croydon, Pennsylvania, is the home of Bristol College, which was founded in 1833. The college only remained open for four years, but its White Hall became a Civil War hospital, and later it was used to house the orphans of African American soldiers. In 1984, White Hall was added to the National Register of Historic Places.

Located in Bucks County, Pennsylvania, Croydon is a census-designated place. It provides a home to about 9950 people, according to the 2010 Census, but it is not incorporated and does not have its own government. It does have Croydon Fire Company # 1, which is entirely staffed by volunteer firefighters. Croydon spans just 2.5 square miles, yet it's the headquarters of such established businesses as PAC Industries and DENAQ. It also offers a range of shopping options and libraries, with entertainment venues within easy driving distance in the nearby city of Philadelphia and surrounding suburbs. The community is served by four schools, two public and two private. See more

What to keep in mind when looking for apartments with parking in Croydon, PA

Parking can be at a premium in some cities where spaces are challenging to find. Some Croydon apartments offer parking options, either outside in a common area or within a private garage.

Ask about the stipulations around the parking. Those may include how many guests are allowed and where tenants park.

Some apartments may only allow parking in front of your own unit. Guest parking may be in a common area for up to one person.

If parking is scarce, look around the area before you sign a lease. Ample street parking in a neighborhood championed for its safety is probably fine. However, it’s probably not worth signing a lease if it means battling for daily parking for you and your guests.

Research whether you need a city permit to park in the neighborhood. Look into the associated costs and what to do about visitors who need parking.

Some tenants prefer garage parking near their units. However, an open-air lot may prove cheaper.

Keep in mind that the cost of wear and tear from parking outside can add up. It may be less expensive, in the long run, to look for an apartment with garage parking.
