City Guide for Ada, OK

Welcome to Ada! Your new Oklahoma city has great small town appeal and a youthful, but family-friendly vibe. Now let’s take a look at some apartments for rent and find you the home of your dreams.

Ada is located in the central portion of the state of Oklahoma, about 60 miles from Norman and 80 miles from Oklahoma City. With a population of a little less than 17,000 people, Ada is definitely a small, tight-knit community. However, because of its distance from larger cities, Ada also serves as the commercial center of the surrounding region. All the best of the area’s shopping, dining and entertainment can be found right outside your doorstep in both small, locally owned establishments and large box stores and chain restaurants.

East Central University, a large public school founded in Ada in 1909, is located just east of the city center. The large, historic campus and surrounding areas provide the town with great opportunities for unique culture and entertainment.

Need more good news? Ada has a very low cost of living and a fairly decent safety record, so you shouldn’t have any trouble locating tons of cheap apartments in Ada’s many safe and desirable neighborhoods.

Because East Central University contributes a little less than 6,000 people to the population, you’re going to find that a large majority of Ada’s apartment rentals are located around the college campus. If you’re not a student, don’t worry too much about proximity to undergraduates. ECU Tigers rarely get too rowdy, and when they do, it’s only during football season. Also, if you venture just southwest of campus, you’ll find a few apartment complexes that are less densely packed with students. Many of the apartments in this area offer short-term leases. Two bedrooms close to campus range from $500 to $700.

North of the city center, you’ll find a few new developments that offer everything from studio apartments to three bedrooms. Many of these apartments also have amenities like clubhouses and children’s play areas. Additionally, you can find the occasional rental home here. Two bedrooms north of downtown generally range from $400 to $500.

South of downtown, past ECU’s campus, you’ll also find great, safe and quiet neighborhoods with a few apartment rentals available. Though most of the real estate here is owner-occupied, you can find occasional rental homes and duplexes in these neighborhoods. Two bedrooms in this area generally range from $400 to $550.

If you’re moving to Ada with a four-legged friend, you shouldn’t have too much trouble locating a pet-friendly apartment. While some apartment rentals may have size or breed restrictions, the majority of Ada’s rental market is both cat and dog friendly.

So welcome to Ada. Enjoy all that this friendly Oklahoma community has to offer! See more

What to keep in mind when looking for studio apartments in Ada, OK

Studio apartments could offer the best of Ada living at a less expensive price tag than larger units. Look for the best buildings near entertainment, dining, and public transportation or highway access.

Ask about the square footage of studio apartments in Ada during your tour. Even a little extra space in another building can offer more room for storage or an additional chair. Consider the layout and what you can accomplish before you sign. You should have enough room for your bed, a small sitting area, and a dining table. You can always get creative and loft your bed to save on space underneath or install a fold-down table or desk that tucks away.
