Northeast Ohio is home to many factories, with quite a few based in Macedonia. Although another factory town won the role, it makes sense that Macedonia was a strong contender. Although located directly halfway between two metropolitan areas (Cleveland to the north, Akron to the south), Macedonia is a nice slice of suburbia in northern Summit County. A strategic location for anyone commuting to either nearby city, living in Macedonia can give you a welcoming bit of quiet breathing space after a busy day.

Finding a Spot to Call Home

Whether you're searching for one-bedroom apartments or rental houses in Macedonia, the city's sprawling landscape and nearby towns can provide plenty of options. There's a large swath of single-family homes in the city itself. So, if you need a house to rent, this is a good place to look around. You can find an apartment for rent, but you may have to look toward the Twinsburg area to find some. Another thing you won't find in Macedonia are neighborhoods since it's a small town. Bring with you copies of your ID, rental history, letters of reference, proof of income and a recent credit check when you're looking for a place in Macedonia.

Unravel and Travel

There's a reason Macedonia is known as "the crossroad of Northeast Ohio." One of the benefits of living in Macedonia is the ability to get in and out within minutes. On the western side of the city is State Route 8, a long stretch of road that covers a lot of ground in Ohio. Even though I-480 is easily accessed on the eastern boundary, hopping on can induce hissy fits and raise blood pressure, depending on what time of season or day you need to travel. Route 8 is the cure and runs right past Macedonia.

Shop and Eat

Even though Macedonia has a small-town reputation, you wouldn't know it by looking at the multiple shopping centers within the area's zip codes. In fact, many people from other areas of Summit County, as well as Cuyahoga and Portage counties, come here to shop. When it comes to eating, you can stay in town and try out Casa D'Angelo Italian, Winking Lizard, My Hero or Fuji Japanese Restaurant.

Recreation Stations

Getting back to that crossroad claim, Macedonia is truly centered for convenient access. A 30-minute drive could land you at one of Lake Erie's public beaches or a ski resort. The popular Thistledown Race Track is extremely close by, as is the gorgeous Cuyahoga Valley National Park. Famous for its natural ice caves, a day trip to the caves can be trippy fun. Just don't forget to slather on insect repellant on the warm days or you'll be a literal walking meal for area mosquitoes. The bald eagles flying above the forested park are gorgeous if you can distract yourself enough from scratching to look.
