Girard is a small town in Trumbull County, Ohio, with just under 10,000 residents. Yep, it's tiny! Founded in 1800, Girard was an even tinier community until the Ohio and Erie Canal was completed in the 1830s. Despite its incredibly small population, there are tons of community amenities and attractions all around town. And they'll probably never be crowded because not too many people live here! Some important people have lived here, though; Mel Triplett, a professional American football player, was a Girard community member before his death in 2002.

Neighborhoods in Girard
There are four basic neighborhoods in this town, each varying greatly in size, type of homes, and convenient amenities. Check out some more helpful info below to help you know where to find a home for rent.
McKinley Heights: To the north and east is McKinley Heights, a large, sweeping neighborhood with the biggest homes in town. This area is very widespread to incorporate sparse dwellings and a lot of green space. You'll find large and medium-sized homes here, as well as mobile homes.
Northern State Street and Churchill Road: To the south of McKinley, you'll find North State Street and Churchill Road. Here, home values are incredibly low, despite being located very near to the city center. This neighborhood is comprised of medium-sized houses, smaller houses and apartments for rent, as well as a few townhouses for rent. Try out the Upstairs Restaurant for dinner here.
City Center: South of the North State Street community is the City Center, which also wraps around to the east side of the Mahoning River and encapsulates much of State Street. East Liberty Street: This neighborhood is where you can find residential areas as well as small commercial zones and medical facilities. Rent and home ownership is often budget-friendly, and most of the buildings were constructed between 1940 and 1969, so vintage lovers will definitely find something they'll like! Living in Girard
This community is adjacent to the Lower and Upper Girard Lakes, as well as Price Field. Combined, they make one of the greatest outdoor entertainment centers in the country! Living here means that your new friends will want to take you fishing, camping and hiking, or just out for a nice wander in the park on random days. Be prepared! Get some camping equipment and let the fun begun!
Of course, having your own transportation is always important, but never so much as when you live in Girard. Consider a pickup truck instead of a car; it can haul camping equipment and deal with snow and rain a lot more easily than a little city car. There's also a good chance you'll need to commute for work, and small towns aren't well-prepared to provide you with public transportation.
