Love a good ghost story? The village of Goshen, New York, is renown for the hanging of British Loyalist outlaw Claudius Smith. This ne'er-do-well raided the countryside of Goshen during the American Revolutionary War along with the Mohawk Indian Chief Joseph Brant. Clearly, that escapade did not go over very well. His skull is said to be buried somewhere within the walls of the historic Presbyterian Church.
The village of Goshen is settled within the greater Town of Goshen. It is also the county seat of Orange County, New York. Originally settled in 1714 with a population of just over 3000, it was finally incorporated in 1809. The village has continued to grow over the years to its current population of 5,454, as of the 2010 census. Boasting both a rich historical background, a mostly agricultural industry, and being just 50 miles northwest of New York City, the city gives residents easy access to both country and city. See more
Finding an apartment in Goshen that accepts your pet may not be easy, but it’s very possible. Keep in mind, most of the time you’ll have to pay a premium for bringing your dog along in your new apartment. Some apartments require you to pay monthly pet rent, others will ask for a non-refundable pet fee or a refundable pet deposit.
While landlords and property management companies have varying pet policies, most of them limit the number of dogs you can bring to your apartment and include breed and weight restrictions.
If your pet falls under some of the restrictions outlined in the pet policy, it’s still worth asking the landlord if they can make an exception for your dog. Preparing a pet resume ahead of time could help you build the case for your furry friend. Make sure to include information on behavioral training your dog went through over the years and proof of vaccinations. If you can, include references from your former landlord and/or neighbors.
