City Guide for Haddonfield, NJ

Harry, from the famous flick When Harry Met Sally, is from Haddonfield, New Jersey.

History is the name of the game in Haddonfield, New Jersey. Located in Camden County, Haddonfield is a borough in South New Jersey outside of Philadelphia. Another fascinating fact about Haddonfield is that the first nearly-complete dinosaur skeleton was excavated from the town in 1858, which helped to establish the Academy of Natural Sciences in Philadelphia shortly thereafter. The Haddonfield area was also occupied by the Lenni Lenape Native Americans, where residents have stumbled across arrowheads and clay pottery pieces in recent years. Haddonfield was settled by Europeans over 300 years ago and incorporated by an Act of New Jersey Legislature in April 1875. It's been growing ever since, and had a population of 11,593 at the 2010 Census. This town loves its history so much that the Historic Preservation District was established in 1971 in order to maintain the town's rustic appearance, which gives it a somewhat unique vibe. That vibe couples with a community feel, which is on display at the number of events the town holds, such as the Christmas tree lighting festival and summer concert series. Once you arrive in Haddonfield, your love for previous hometowns will be -- what else? -- history. See more

What to keep in mind when looking for dog friendly apartments in Haddonfield, NJ

Finding an apartment in Haddonfield that accepts your pet may not be easy, but it’s very possible. Keep in mind, most of the time you’ll have to pay a premium for bringing your dog along in your new apartment. Some apartments require you to pay monthly pet rent, others will ask for a non-refundable pet fee or a refundable pet deposit.

While landlords and property management companies have varying pet policies, most of them limit the number of dogs you can bring to your apartment and include breed and weight restrictions.

If your pet falls under some of the restrictions outlined in the pet policy, it’s still worth asking the landlord if they can make an exception for your dog. Preparing a pet resume ahead of time could help you build the case for your furry friend. Make sure to include information on behavioral training your dog went through over the years and proof of vaccinations. If you can, include references from your former landlord and/or neighbors.
