Poor Francois Lemai. A city was named after him, but his name wasn't even spelled correctly! Lemay, Missouri, was named for the operator of a ferry that crossed the Meramec River in the early part of the 19th century. The town must have thought he was important -- even if nobody thought that the correct spelling of his name was a big deal. Hopefully he would still feel honored anyway.
