City Guide for Grosse Pointe Woods, MI

John Cusack's character in Grosse Pointe Blank was a hit man and he had to go back to his high school reunion in his hometown of Grosse Pointe. Nobody at the reunion really believed that he was a hit man and thought he was just making a joke. Though the movie was fictional, it's not surprising that someone of one of the five similarly named Grosse Pointe communities would doubt someone was really a hit man because it's such a nice area.

When you say the name Grosse Pointe to a resident of the Detroit area, they usually think of a high-class, old money kind of neighborhood. In truth there are five cities that incorporate the Grosse Pointe name, and they are all located near each other about 10 miles northeast of downtown Detroit. Grosse Pointe Woods is actually the only one of the Grosse Pointe communities that is not on the coast of Lake St. Clair. See more

What to keep in mind when looking for dog friendly apartments in Grosse Pointe Woods, MI

Finding an apartment in Grosse Pointe Woods that accepts your pet may not be easy, but it’s very possible. Keep in mind, most of the time you’ll have to pay a premium for bringing your dog along in your new apartment. Some apartments require you to pay monthly pet rent, others will ask for a non-refundable pet fee or a refundable pet deposit.

While landlords and property management companies have varying pet policies, most of them limit the number of dogs you can bring to your apartment and include breed and weight restrictions.

If your pet falls under some of the restrictions outlined in the pet policy, it’s still worth asking the landlord if they can make an exception for your dog. Preparing a pet resume ahead of time could help you build the case for your furry friend. Make sure to include information on behavioral training your dog went through over the years and proof of vaccinations. If you can, include references from your former landlord and/or neighbors.
