City Guide for Cape St. Claire, MD

Cape St. Claire wasn't always Cape St. Claire. In reality, the community was originally called Persimmon Point. Persimmon Point was a development started by Hugh H. Young, a doctor on the staff of Johns Hopkins University. The development ultimately failed due to the Great Depression, but after Young's death, his children continued to develop the area into a residential community, which eventually became Cape St. Claire as we know it today.

Cape St. Claire is a lovely suburban area with easy access to nearby Annapolis, Maryland. Cape St. Claire has a diverse community, with lots of people who commute into and out of Annapolis for work and play, but who also come for a retreat or escape from Washington, D.C., and Baltimore. Therefore, Cape St. Claire has a vibe that is both suburban and coastal town. With three marinas, tons of parks, and lots and lots of community amenities, Cape St. Claire is one of the most beloved Annapolis suburbs; choose to live there for a relaxing, vacation pace of life or to enjoy a well-cared for, quiet and peaceful hometown. What to keep in mind when looking for apartments with balconies in Cape St. Claire, MD

Balconies are a coveted amenity for many renters looking for high-rise views and opportunities for fresh air. However, you should keep in mind that balconies often come with restrictions.

Before signing a lease, ask about how many people can be on the balcony at once. Also, ask about whether you’re allowed to store a bike or other items.

You’ll also want to know about any maintenance schedules. Using your balcony as storage could result in fines and intervention from your property management.

Keep in mind that not all balconies are created equally. You may discover the views of the parking area are less than optimal or reduce your overall privacy.

Balconies can also get messy with debris, foliage, dirt, and pollen depending on your location. Renters are typically responsible for any clean-up and basic balcony upkeep.

Regardless of the issues to keep in mind, balconies are usually a big win for Cape St. Claire renters. Ask about apartments on higher floors for the best views.
