Maynard is a town in Middlesex County, Massachusetts, located just about 20 miles west of Boston. It's basically considered a suburb of Boston, thought it very much has its own kind of vibe. The population is 10,106 and the people are a warm and welcoming New England community. The Assabet River divides the town from west to east but don't worry because there are seven road bridges and one foot bridge that can get you from one side to the other. The town gets a lot of snow and has some pretty chilly winters but it also has super nice, balmy summers. You can get into Boston via car or by hopping on the MBTA Commuter Rail at South Acton. Once you're in Beantown, the sky is the limit! You can take in a Red Sox game, head to Cambridge to hit up some of the local bars, or dine at one of the delicious restaurants downtown or in the North End. There's a reason it's not super cheap to live in Maynard but residents seem to feel that its worth the high price tag to enjoy the peaceful suburban life and also get such quick, easy access to downtown Boston. Finding an apartment in Maynard that accepts your pet may not be easy, but it’s very possible. Keep in mind, most of the time you’ll have to pay a premium for bringing your dog along in your new apartment. Some apartments require you to pay monthly pet rent, others will ask for a non-refundable pet fee or a refundable pet deposit.
While landlords and property management companies have varying pet policies, most of them limit the number of dogs you can bring to your apartment and include breed and weight restrictions.
If your pet falls under some of the restrictions outlined in the pet policy, it’s still worth asking the landlord if they can make an exception for your dog. Preparing a pet resume ahead of time could help you build the case for your furry friend. Make sure to include information on behavioral training your dog went through over the years and proof of vaccinations. If you can, include references from your former landlord and/or neighbors.
