The town takes its name in honor of one Charles James Fox, a member of the British House of Commons during Revolutionary War times who was sympathetic to the Colonies, and sought a more moderate stance from King George.

It's no secret this region has a lot of interesting history. The namesake of Foxborough is indeed the honorable Mr. Fox, selected by a general court because of a speech he made to Parliament in support of the colonies in 1778. So, although the citizens of the town didn't choose it, they got a great historical name nonetheless. While it's officially home to under 5,700 people, it is part of the greater population megalopolis that essentially extends from Boston to Washington, D.C. Just over 20 miles southwest of Boston and just under 20 miles northeast of Providence, Rhode Island, it's close to some very large cities. The fact that it's right alongside Interstate 95 makes transportation convenient to areas north and south.

Rock Hill/Cocasset Lake: This part of town is anchored by the Rock Hill cemetery and the lake next to it. You will also find Booth Playground, a large park area with ball fields and places to play. A huge green space fans out to the west and the residences are primarily single-family homes on large lots.

Downtown: It's a charming and picturesque downtown with a lot of historic buildings. Roads fan out like spokes from the Foxborough Town Common and it's a good place to look for a studio apartment for rent, perhaps in one of the historic mixed-use structures that dot the area.

I-95 Corridor: Near the freeway you will find some newer construction with a nice selection of single-family homes and the occasional apartment complex, the latter of which are located mostly along Cocasset Street. It's important to note that although close to the freeway, there actually isn't access from Cocasset Street.

Neponset/Chestnut Green: Near the lake you will find some nice, but rather pricey, homes with waterfront access. There's also the Chestnut Green area, a mix of residential, commercial, and retail that has its own common area with community events and nice eateries located around. It's a great bet for a neighborhood to rent an apartment in that is close to everything you want to be near.
