City Guide for Youngsville, LA

Did you know that Youngsville was originally called Roysville? That's right; it was named after one of the founding families of the town, but people were getting it confused with Raysville upstate, so the Post Office petitioned for a name change, and Youngsville was born in 1908, taking its name from the word "young village."

Youngsville is indeed one of the younger towns in Louisiana, having been settled by the French in the 1800s. By 1859, the settlement had doubled in size and was big enough for its own Catholic church. Today, it is still the fastest growing town in Louisiana, paying homage to its rural roots and French ancestry while still being a modern, vibrant town. Technically speaking, Youngsville is no longer a village; it's a small city with a population of over 8,000 people. See more

What to keep in mind when looking for dog friendly apartments in Youngsville, LA

Finding an apartment in Youngsville that accepts your pet may not be easy, but it’s very possible. Keep in mind, most of the time you’ll have to pay a premium for bringing your dog along in your new apartment. Some apartments require you to pay monthly pet rent, others will ask for a non-refundable pet fee or a refundable pet deposit.

While landlords and property management companies have varying pet policies, most of them limit the number of dogs you can bring to your apartment and include breed and weight restrictions.

If your pet falls under some of the restrictions outlined in the pet policy, it’s still worth asking the landlord if they can make an exception for your dog. Preparing a pet resume ahead of time could help you build the case for your furry friend. Make sure to include information on behavioral training your dog went through over the years and proof of vaccinations. If you can, include references from your former landlord and/or neighbors.
