Not-so-telling name: Despite its small size, Mandeville is the French term meaning "big farm."
The city of Mandeville has been around for a long time. Originally settled in 1834 and incorporated in 1840, Mandeville is rich with southern culture, and today is one of the most popular cultural destinations in Louisiana. The city itself is fairly small, just under seven square miles, and has a population of about 11,500 according to the 2010 census figures. Mandeville is also one of the earliest cities to establish a vibrant Jazz culture, which continues to this day. See more
