Versailles is the county seat of Woodford County, Kentucky. The city is situated near Lexington in the Lexington-Fayette Metropolitan Statistical Area and had a population of 8,568 at the 2010 census. Founded in 1792, the city is also near Louisville and the state's capital city, Frankfort.
