While most cities host some sort of celebration for the 4th of July, Mascoutah undeniably goes the extra mile. The fourth fest events include softball and kickball tournaments, raffles, poker, local artisans and live music, plus, naturally, fireworks.
Primarily known as a quaint small town near Scott Air Force Base, the city of Mascoutah offers fans of wide-open spaces and charming neighbors a fabulous place to settle. Green, fairly flat and boasting easy access to many enticing opportunities, the residents of Mascoutah tend to recognize their good luck in locations. In addition to the gorgeous Midwestern countryside, natives enjoy a low cost of living and low crime, plus St. Louis, The Gateway to the West, is fewer than 30 miles away. That means whether locals want to relax and go for a hike or head to the city for a night on the town they have their pick of adventures any day of the week. Of course, being this close to Scott AFB has its benefits too, and not just for those who work there. Count on seeing strapping young men and women milling about in their uniforms on the regular. And -- it goes without saying -- no one knows how to enjoy life better than a serviceman. Head to the Midwest and discover just how lovely good, clean living can be. See more
Parking can be at a premium in some cities where spaces are challenging to find. Some Mascoutah apartments offer parking options, either outside in a common area or within a private garage.
Ask about the stipulations around the parking. Those may include how many guests are allowed and where tenants park.
Some apartments may only allow parking in front of your own unit. Guest parking may be in a common area for up to one person.
If parking is scarce, look around the area before you sign a lease. Ample street parking in a neighborhood championed for its safety is probably fine. However, it’s probably not worth signing a lease if it means battling for daily parking for you and your guests.
Research whether you need a city permit to park in the neighborhood. Look into the associated costs and what to do about visitors who need parking.
Some tenants prefer garage parking near their units. However, an open-air lot may prove cheaper.
Keep in mind that the cost of wear and tear from parking outside can add up. It may be less expensive, in the long run, to look for an apartment with garage parking.
