City Guide for Hillside, IL

The Mount Carmel Cemetery is one of Hillside's most notable landmarks. The famed crime figures, Al Capone and Dion O'Bannion are both buried at Mount Carmel. Ironically, a few bishops and archbishops from the Archdiocese of Chicago are buried here as well. However, they are buried in the Bishops' Mausoleum, not near those two infamous characters.

The village of Hillside, established in 1905, is in northeastern Illinois and serves as the metro gateway. Chicago is only a 30-minute drive east along I-290, so quick trips into the city are easily accomplished. Serving as the metro gateway also means having easy access via a network of expressways to the entire Chicago area. So if you plan to commute, you couldn't have picked a better place to do it from. What to keep in mind when looking for dog friendly apartments in Hillside, IL

Finding an apartment in Hillside that accepts your pet may not be easy, but it’s very possible. Keep in mind, most of the time you’ll have to pay a premium for bringing your dog along in your new apartment. Some apartments require you to pay monthly pet rent, others will ask for a non-refundable pet fee or a refundable pet deposit.

While landlords and property management companies have varying pet policies, most of them limit the number of dogs you can bring to your apartment and include breed and weight restrictions.

If your pet falls under some of the restrictions outlined in the pet policy, it’s still worth asking the landlord if they can make an exception for your dog. Preparing a pet resume ahead of time could help you build the case for your furry friend. Make sure to include information on behavioral training your dog went through over the years and proof of vaccinations. If you can, include references from your former landlord and/or neighbors.
