City Guide for Hillside, IL

The Mount Carmel Cemetery is one of Hillside's most notable landmarks. The famed crime figures, Al Capone and Dion O'Bannion are both buried at Mount Carmel. Ironically, a few bishops and archbishops from the Archdiocese of Chicago are buried here as well. However, they are buried in the Bishops' Mausoleum, not near those two infamous characters.

The village of Hillside, established in 1905, is in northeastern Illinois and serves as the metro gateway. Chicago is only a 30-minute drive east along I-290, so quick trips into the city are easily accomplished. Serving as the metro gateway also means having easy access via a network of expressways to the entire Chicago area. So if you plan to commute, you couldn't have picked a better place to do it from. What to keep in mind when looking for apartments with garages in Hillside, IL

Hillside apartments with garages are sometimes more expensive than other options. However, they may make more financial sense in the long run.

Weather, break-ins, and daily struggles to find a space can take a toll financially and physically. Remember that even cities in mild climates experience issues like salt air, tornadoes, hail, falling branches from storms, and other issues.

It’s also possible to score an auto insurance reduction if you park in a garage. Ask your insurance provider about any deals or discounts that could trim money off the cost of your monthly bill.

Before signing a lease, ask the landlord or property manager about any restrictions on garage use. It’s important to know if there are enough spaces for tenants and visitors and what happens if the garage is full. If you’re moving into an apartment inside a home, ask about any conditions on its use and if storage is allowed.
