Boulder Hill is a community in Oswego Township, Illinois with a population of 8,108. It only covers about 1.45 square miles on the map and it is disputed as to whether it lies completely in Oswego or partly in Montgomery. Neither community is sure exactly where the borders lie! Boulder Hill prides itself on having a strong identity and it is a point of pride to say that you're from Boulder Hill rather than from Montgomery or Oswego, as many residents of other communities will do. The nearest towns are Aurora and Naperville, although downtown Chicago is only about an hour and a half away!

Neighborhoods in Boulder Hill

Boulder HIll doesn't have too many diverse neighborhoods, but here's a little info about the different sections of town.

North Boulder Hill: This neighborhood is pushed up against Route 30 and Fernwood Road. It's just a few small streets with mostly single-family homes.

South Boulder Hill: This is where Suzan John Park is located. Residents love living here because it's peaceful and the homes are large.

East Boulder Hill: There's not much going on over on this side of town besides a few single-family homes scattered along the streets. It's close to Winrock Park and Lake!

Living in Boulder HIll

Boulder HIll is a pretty simple town that's easy to figure out. It won't take you long to find your way around and you'll probably start running into familiar faces the first week you move in! That's the way this town works and the residents love it.

The way the town is set up, it's almost entirely residential, with about 1/6th of the apartments being rental units. There is one commercial district on the north side of town, and that's where you'll find all the shops and restaurants. There's Pizza Cucina, Arandas Tacos, McDonald's, Wendy's and a handful of others located along Route 30 around Douglas Road. That's also where you'll find the Townes Shopping Center, which also has a Goodrich Kindall 10 Movie Theater. On the far west side of town you'll find Select Restaurant and a Dollar General Store. Just south of Route 34, there's a Meijer and a bunch of other restaurants, but that's not technically in Boulder Hill.

Winrock Park is one of the prettier parks in the town and many people like to come here or to Jaycee Park to relax and enjoy the weather. The housing here is a mix of single-family homes and apartment complexes, although there aren't a huge amount of rentals. Vacancies here are scarce, too, so if you're interested in renting an apartment in this part of Illinois, you better start looking soon!
