Clive is a city that stretches over both Dallas and Polk counties in Iowa. It has a population of around 15,440 and is well-known because of the wonderful Greenbelt Park and trail system that runs all through Clive. Residents love it because it offers a very high quality of life with lots of enriching outdoors activities. It also has a great Public Arts Program, combined with the charm, safety and ease of living in a quaint Midwestern town.

Moving here will be a cinch if you look in City Center, where there are a lot of vacancies and apts for rent for a totally affordable price. If you love the arts and outdoor stuff, you’ll be happy you settled here. Don’t forget to bring all your paperwork, such as your proof of income, credit report and whatever else you need to make your landlord believe you’re going to be a stand-up tenant. 

Neighborhoods

Clive takes up about 7 square miles on the map, meaning you could walk the length of it in about an hour! But for such a tiny space, it does pack a punch. Here are a few of the communities that people love.

Campbell: This area is a little pricier than the rest of Clive, especially if you’re looking for an apartment for rent. It’s also occupied primarily by owners, so rental units are hard to find. These are large, stately homes filled with lots of executives and young families.$$$$

Hickman Road: These homes are considerably less than the Campbell area and you’ll find quite a few apartment complexes and one-bedroom apartments here, although it’s still mostly owner-occupied. It’s a great area for wealthy working folks and for young children.$$$

City Center: This area is the least expensive in Clive and a great place to look for apartment rentals and condo rentals. It’s more diverse than the other areas and still close the beautiful Greenbelt Park. $$

Life in Clive

Clive is a place where people like to live a slow, quiet suburban life, and outdoor activities and the arts reign as the major attractions here. The Greenbelt offers opportunities for residents to run, walk, bike and hike all year long. There is a huge arts initiative in the town as well. One of the favorite events of many in the area is the Clive After Five concert series every summer, where residents gather at Linnan Park to here free music and socialize with their neighbors and friends.
