Douglas County residents, including those in The Pinery, are pretty serious when it comes to health and happiness, so it should come as no surprise that the yearly Healthy Living Expo comes to town every February, right when everyone is struggling with their New Year's resolutions.
With its classic woody terrain, gurgling creeks and perfectly manicured golf courses, it's not difficult to see why so many people are opting to move to The Pinery in Colorado. Close to various attractions both indoors and out, this little CDP in Douglas County sits about 30 miles from downtown Denver and basks in nearly year round sunshine. Sure, it snows and rains on occasion--this is The Rockies' territory after all--but Denver is lauded as one of the sunniest cities in the nation. All that fine weather encourages locals to get out and enjoy Mother Nature regularly, and folks here are pretty serious about hiking, biking and staying healthy. Now, it's true that The Pinery doesn't have an excess of amenities within its borders, but that's all the better to enjoy the peace, serenity and wide, wide-open spaces of the tree-lined streets and friendly neighbors. Besides, just minutes away are impressive dining venues, unique shops and outlets and stirring art galleries. Finding an apartment in The Pinery that accepts your pet may not be easy, but it’s very possible. Keep in mind, most of the time you’ll have to pay a premium for bringing your dog along in your new apartment. Some apartments require you to pay monthly pet rent, others will ask for a non-refundable pet fee or a refundable pet deposit.
While landlords and property management companies have varying pet policies, most of them limit the number of dogs you can bring to your apartment and include breed and weight restrictions.
If your pet falls under some of the restrictions outlined in the pet policy, it’s still worth asking the landlord if they can make an exception for your dog. Preparing a pet resume ahead of time could help you build the case for your furry friend. Make sure to include information on behavioral training your dog went through over the years and proof of vaccinations. If you can, include references from your former landlord and/or neighbors.
