Woodland is technically a suburb of Sacramento. Located in Yolo County in the northwest portion of California, the city was founded in 1850, and it has continued to grow ever since. City experts credit the growth of Woodland to the fact that it was well-irrigated off the bat, and it also had fertile soil and was accessible by railroad and Interstate 5. Many people move to Woodland, though, just because the cost of living is lower than in Sacramento. It being a nice, sunny, quiet place to live doesn't hurt much either.
