You’ll have plenty of options when you’re ready to rent an apartment in Serra Mesa. There’s a wide range of prices and styles, so depending on your preference (and budget) you can rent a brand new luxury 1-bedroom apartment or an older single-family home for the same monthly rent. Some of the newer complexes were built with commuters in mind and are located right at the 805/163 interchange. For a full day of shopping, you’re just minutes away from Fashion Valley Mall, the largest mall in San Diego. Serra Mesa nature lovers can take advantage of the abundance of natural beauty that’s perfect for hikers, bikers, and families. The Ruffin Canyon Open Space trails are primitive, but are being maintained and improved by the Friends of Ruffin Canyon. The Ruffin Canyon area spans most of Serra Mesa, but the trails can be accessed from Taft Middle School. You’ll find more modern trails just south of Serra Mesa on the San Diego River Trail system. The trail still has some gaps but there are completed segments from Ocean Beach to the Mission Valley YMCA and then from Riverwalk Golf Club to the 805.
