Please note this is a furnished room for rent in a houseshare situation with 2 other adults in their mid 60s. Enjoy living in a nature-lover's paradise, tucked away in a private hidden valley, only 5 minutes from Highway 8, at the Lake Jennings Park Road Exit. This private room for rent and house share offers understated elegance in a large house nestled in a 5-1/2 acre country ranchette known as Serenity Oaks
Accessed by a private road that ends at the edge of a lovely nature preserve, Serenity Oaks is ideal for a busy professional or anyone who longs to unwind each night in a serene country setting.

There are seven stairs to access the house. Although there are cement walkways, in general, the house is set in a lovely but uneven, country terrain, so a steady walking gate is a must.

We have a pool that will be filled in or replastered within aproximately 1 year (Covid -19 delayed our plans). It does not have the required fencing for children, so no applicants with children under 14 can be considered. This would include parents and grandparents with regular visitations.

INCLUDED: Rent includes free access to a laundry room (open 7 am to 9 pm) with high capacity, state of the art stacked washer and dryer (Please, No washing loads for non-residents). It also includes high speed Cox WiFi internet with Mesh extenders, all utilities except telephone, and over 300 channels of Dish TV with movie packages and dedicated sports channels, (renter to provide TV).

PARKING: Parking is off-road, with one place on the blacktop. There is room for a modest sized trailer for no extra charge, with further space rental for 1 additional vehicle approved on a case by case basis, for a monthly fee. Larger trailers on approval only and will require a monthly fee.

PETS: 1 to 2 small, friendly cats/dogs allowed on approval for an additional pet deposit as long as they like cats and other small friendly dogs. ONE well-behaved medium dog is also allowed on approval as long as he/she will get along with our cats and our friendly 20lb dog. Sorry, NO puppies, please, due to chewing and potty training considerations.

ROOM DESCRIPTION: Your airy, sunlit 171 square ft private room offers a half vaulted ceiling that ensures a feeling of spaciousness, a large window with Plantation shutters, a designer ceiling fan, imported Italian wood-look ceramic tile floors (found throughout the house), and a 62" x 25" x 24" storage space located above the mirrored and lighted double hang closet. You will share a large full bathroom with designer tile, hardwood cabinetry, double sink, granite countertop, and large mirrored medicine cabinet with me.

LOCATION: Serenity Oaks is located across from Blossom Valley at the Lake Jennings Park Road Exit off of HWY 8 in Eastern El Cajon. Features rapid access to downtown El Cajon, a 15 minute drive to Santee, Tierra Santa, or the College area, 22 min to Mission Valley, and 28 min to downtown San Diego (more during traffic hours). Public transportation (bus) is a mile + hike away with some of it uphill, with the trolley a 15 min drive way, so a car, bike ownership, or a love of long walks is a must.

LOOKING FOR: a pet loving single, positive, mature, nonsmoking, clean, moderate, responsible and considerate individual, preferably 45 years or over, with a steady income who appreciates nature, and wants to live here long term (Exceptions in lease lengths made for travel nurses). Please, no drama queens or addicts (that includes alcohol, drugs, gambling, etc). NO illegal drugs or abuse of prescription drugs. Mobile Seniors welcome.

QUALIFICATIONS: Applicant must be able to submit references and documentation that proves their continuing ability to pay the rent at the time of the application. A criminal background check will be conducted

MUST Have: NO CAT, DOG, OR HORSE ALLERGIES (Not shouting but they dont allow underlining). We have cats and a friendly dog in the house and on the property. We love our wildlife, so if you think critters should be controlled with bullets or poison, this is NOT the place for you. We enjoy life, and celebrate the holidays, but this is not a party property.

HOUSEHOLD: You will share the 2000 sq ft drama free house with two other healthy, quiet, and respectful people. We are friendly, but busy, enjoy sharing dinners a few times a week, but apply no pressure to attend, and will not invade your privacy. I am an artist and writer, and edited a literary magazine for many years. My other renter is a lady who manages a successful business.

COMMON AREAS: The house, remodeled between 2016-19, features a large front deck, a mountain view, partially vaulted ceilings, designer ceiling fans, and imported Italian tile floors that people swear are wood, but are so easy to clean, The formal dining room features a banded mahogany table, comfortable leather and wood chairs, and large rock fireplace with an architectural cherry mantelpiece and matching bookcases, a roomy country kitchen with stainless steel appliances, and a large living room with several seating areas, furnished in tasteful art, antiques, a comfy leather overstuffed couch and love seat, and Persian carpets.

GROUNDS AMENITIES: The living room opens up with French doors to a flower filled front deck with a mountain and creek view, which features comfortable seating and. provides the perfect place to enjoy your morning coffee or tea. in winter, you can listen to the water tumble by in our seasonal creek. The deck overlooks a walking bridge, a lower firepit seating area, a stone dining table and designer chairs, and a tile picnic table with matching benches, all in the shade of massive 100 year oak trees. Choose from many locations to enjoy nature, eat a good meal, enjoy a book, or hike. Take invigorating private walks in the fresh air or hike half a mile to explore the nature preserve. With no city lights to extinguish them, the stars stud the night sky.

WILDLIFE: The abundant wildlife includes a flock of wild turkeys, a fox, squirrels, rabbits, orioles, bluebirds, mourning doves, hawks, and many other birds.

PRICE: All this can be yours for a very reasonable $995 a month, first month's rent, a deposit of $995, an application fee of $55, plus any applicable pet deposit, all due on signing the lease.
