City Guide
Century City, Los Angeles
Century City can easily be called the economic engine of Los Angeles. Home to some of the biggest entertainment companies and right next door to Beverly Hills, this little enclave is always bustling with excitement. Master-planned to be a great area—and specifically designed to be earthquake-proof—Century City is more commercial than residential. But those who do call it home have a lot to love.

The biggest advantage of living in Century City is its easy access for those who work in the entertainment industry. You can bypass the notoriously heavy Los Angeles traffic and be back home in just minutes after a day at work. But that doesn’t mean that the neighborhood goes dead after 5:00; The Cellar Bar & Grill has great happy hour specials, and the Nissan Live Sets Stage hosts big-name artists in a small intimate venue (though events are often secret shows that are invite-only.)

When you’re looking for an apartment for rent in Century City, be prepared for premium rent prices. Many of the units here are condos and feature upscale amenities and design features that you’ll be proud to show off. Gated communities and onsite security protect lushly landscaped grounds that feature spas, pools, and tennis courts.

You can drive in Century City, and many people do, but be prepared for the fact that parking here is very limited and expensive. Public transportation also makes the area accessible to those who live in nearby neighborhoods and work here, or for those who want to get to downtown. The neighborhood is safe for walking, but you’ll notice that there’s a lot less foot traffic after business hours.

Most places in Century City are upscale, so the best of everything is within your reach. The Copper Lounge has a selection of some of the highest quality wines and aged Scotch you could want. Craft is the kind of restaurant where you’ll get a truly exquisite meal and is the perfect setting for making business deals or a special celebration. Hinoki and the Bird also serves up excellent food and drinks in an intimate atmosphere. For more casual dining experiences where the food is still top-notch, RockSugar Pan Asian Kitchen is a local favorite.

The Westfield Century City Mall is an attraction in itself, offering many upscale stores and a food court that’s a distinct cut above the norm. You’ll also find local grocery stores in the neighborhood like Mrs. Winston’s Green Grocery and Gelson’s Market, where you’ll find a variety of fresh and organic fare.

The sky’s the limit when it comes to finding an apartment for rent in Century City, and you’ll find a variety of options. Most units are condos in high-rise buildings, since this is a densely-populated business area. You’ll definitely need to prove that you’re credit-worthy, with an income at least 3 times the rent and with references to verify that you’re likely to be a good neighbor. (This is a neighborhood where credentials matter a lot.) Pet policies vary by individual properties, so you’ll want to ask before you sign a lease. Parking is usually included in your rent, but you may have a limited number of available spaces.

When you want an upscale, safe, and inspiring place to live, you’ll find it in Century City.
